Career Highlights

Most recently, Silvana served as a news anchor for Telemundo Colorado, where she hosted the 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. primetime newscasts. Throughout her career, she has covered a wide range of stories, including breaking news, human-interest pieces, investigative reports, political developments, and entertainment news. Some of her stories have garnered national and international attention, including her exclusive interview with Joshua Holt, an American imprisoned in Venezuela, marking the first time Holt spoke on a Hispanic TV station.

Before her time at Telemundo Colorado, Silvana spent eight consecutive years as the lead news anchor and news director for Telemundo Utah, where she played a pivotal role in launching the state’s first live Hispanic newscast. During the early years of her career, she worked in various roles as a reporter, producer, and co-anchor across both English and Spanish-language media outlets. She also contributed to print journalism, writing for publications such as the Deseret News’ “OKEspañol.”

Education

Originally from Peru, Silvana began her higher education journey as a newly arrived immigrant at the age of 17, earning scholarships from NBC affiliate KSL5. By the age of 19, she landed her first role as a part-time reporter and went on to graduate with a degree in Journalism from the University of Utah.

Community Engagement

Silvana is deeply involved with the Hispanic community, particularly in California, Colorado, and Utah, where she has worked closely with local leaders and community members. She has moderated bilingual political debates, including Salt Lake City’s 2016 mayoral race, and emceed various cultural and community events such as the Governor’s Multicultural Youth Leadership Days, Cinco de Mayo Festivals, Hispanic Chamber of Commerce conferences, and the LULAC National Convention in 2015.
